WELCOME
This website raises awareness about Regulation (EU) No 1143/2014 on the prevention and management of the introduction and spread of Invasive Alien Species, or…the IAS Regulation for short.
Three institutions are responsible for Belgium’s implementation of the IAS Regulation, i.e. a National Committee, a National Scientific Council, and a National Scientific Secretariat on invasive alien species. An official cooperation agreement between the Federal Government, the Communities and the Regions forms the framework of their practice.
What’s more, it’s a go-to hub with practical facts and answers to frequently asked questions. For instance, you can find out which plants and animals are on the European IAS of Union Concern List, their status in Belgium, and how to request a derogation license.
